Gauteng Homes 2006
For the second time, Deloitte (Woodmead) recently hosted our annual children's home outing. This was held on 7 May 2006 at the Deloitte grounds. Bigs and Littles from various Children's Homes, BBBS staff and Deloitte volunteers attended the event. They ensured that the day was a huge success for all of the 140 people that attended.
The children had a chance to enjoy a fun filled day which included various jumping castles, a gladiator slide, popcorn, candyfloss, borewors rolls, cold drinks, sweets and gifts. They were then surprised by an interactive circus that put on a wonderful show and allowed all of the Bigs and Littles to take part and try out the circus equipment. Many giggles were shared between the matches.
Big Brothers Big Sisters would like to say a very big THANK YOU to Deloitte for hosting and funding the entire day. Each child received a Mo Doll and a lovely warm blanket donated by VodaWorld, toys donated by Prima Toys and teddy bears sponsored by Toy Connection.
Pat's Party Hire gave us a discount on all of the jumping castles and machines used, and Coca-Cola supplied the cold drinks. Each of these places helped put BIG smiles on the faces of our Littles. Thank you all so much!

Gauteng - Mentorship 2006
National Celebration of Mentorship. This year, BBBSSA-Gauteng was host to this first time ever Event that took months of preparation and planning. It was dedicated to all our matches that have been on the programme since 2002.
Included in the crowd, were potential donors and volunteers, funders, board members and our guest speaker, Katherine Balsley, the CEO of BBBS international. This event set a precedence for future National Events that will become an annual celebration and rotate among the branches.
New Interests include Telkom Foundation, City Power, Sun International, South African Airways and The Dept. of Social Services, Western Cape.

Gauteng - Schools 2006
Movie Magic was the theme for the day on 28 July 2006. Foundation Primary was kind enough to open their school to all the Bigs and Littles on the BBBSSA School's Programme, to have a relaxing and exciting morning together. The Littles really had a lot of fun watching the movie and participating in the dance competition. It left many Bigs speechless, seeing what talents some of their Littles display!
For BBBSSA, the day was filled with fun, laughter, popcorn, sweets and, of course, KFC! Vodacom once again demonstrated their generosity by donating gifts for the children in the form of T-shirts, Mo Dolls and beautiful winter blankets. A BIG popping thanks goes to KFC for the sponsorship of the meals, as well as a monetary donation, to Vodacom for the gifts they sponsored, Prima Toys for the teddy bears, and a very hearty THANK YOU to Foundation Primary for accommodating the rowdy group.

2005 Children's Day outing. Together with Deloitte's assistance and funding, we held our first joint Big Brothers Big Sisters / Deloitte Children's Home outing. It was held on 16 April 2005 at Zoo Lake.
With Deloitte's financial contributions, we were able to have jumping castles, a clown, face painter, popcorn & candyfloss machines, as well as a great lunch and cooldrinks for everyone. The day was a great success!
